Rob Layton Mobile Journalist

Rob Layton is a career journalist-turned-educator who teaches mobile journalism and iPhone photography at Bond University on the Gold Coast.

His industry expertise has led him to work with and be published by Apple, Google, News Corp, the ABC and Al Jazeera, among others, and he trains journalists and content creators in Australia, Europe, Great Britain and Asia in how to use their phones professionally.

Rob specialises in mobile filmmaking in the ocean and his short films have been awarded and screened at major events and in cinemas around the world, including the UN Ocean Conference in Portugal, the San Diego Undersea Film Exhibition, in Federation Square for the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival, Florida Surf Film Festival, as well as in London, Rome, Sydney, Barcelona and more.

He has been living and reporting on the Gold Coast since the mid-80s and is currently working on a video documentary about the surfing culture and heritage of Burleigh Heads, his home break.
