Panel: Hosted by women’s surf journalist and author of the Bikini Collective book series, Kate McMahon, gather round as several festival contributing photographers, filmmakers + athletes discuss the positive media evolution of women’s surfing, and the increase of water-inspired female photographers and filmers. Panelists include world globetrotting photographer Cait Miers, pro surfer and big wave charger Laura Enever, film and photo creative Ella Tubman, photographer and book author Fiona Pyke, surfer photographer jetsetter Marina Alonso, junior surf star and artist Juniper Harper, and stellar water photographer Jesse Jennings and more.

All attendees will score goodies from our friends at Billabong, with a lucky door prize of a $500 Billabong gift voucher also being drawn on the night.

This evening celebrates female athletes on film, leading female film and photographers, and the positive rise of both in unison. Come along to support the next gen of female surf creators.

Great Ocean Love  Synopsis: Great Ocean Love is part documentary, part road trippin’ surf flick that follows Belinda Baggs, Linley Hurrell and Lilly Pollard on a journey of discovery from the teachings of Gunditjmara whale dreamer Yaraan Bundle. Along the way they meet saltwater women of the deep south who share their love for the rugged coastline that they call home.

Yama Synopsis: Yama follows Australian surfer and activist Lucy Small as she travels to Ghana to meet with a group of pioneering female surfers and skaters. Once a stronghold of the transatlantic slave trade and with a history of Atlantic aquatic surf culture that precedes colonial invasion, this is a story of a reclamation and joy. Aiming to tell a story that challenges the representations that many African nations are commonly subjected to in western media, Yama begins in the bustling city of Accra and travels to the wave rich coastline where there are communities driving the budding Ghanaian modern surf scene.The Fantes are the people who populate the area where female surfers live. Yama is their name for the wooden boats that still cross Ghana’s shoreline today. Featuring: Sandy Alibo, Justice Kwofie, Eden Oyeoku, Harmonie Bataka, Lucy Small.
