As one festival door closes, a board making precinct opens. Join us for a return of Flotsam’s Foamo series, where we delve into the art of boardmaking through photo and film. This time, it’s the opening of an expanded collective shaper hub called Burleigh Boardmakers.
Currently the surfboard factory site for Sam Parsons, who has his own surfboard label as well as finishes boards for the likes of Nev Hyman, Dick Van Straalen, Beau Young, Gary Joske and Kenny Godfrey, Burleigh Boardmakers is being externally and internally refitted. The result will be a much-needed destination venue for all to come visit and enjoy the craft of making surfboards and surf history.
To launch the space, this free event will host live surfboard shaping displays, music, and films celebrating the surfers behind the board models.
