What goes better together than board stories, film and photo? Putting it in Surf World’s giant museum board collection, that’s what.
With the world’s highest concentration of surfboard craftspeople and surf photographer and filmmakers per square kilometer, it’s no wonder that lockdowns saw a flurry of collaborations.
Photographic essays and short film content created by local filmers and photographers of several integral local shaping figures will be screened, as well as an exhibition of shapes that are an art form in and of themselves.
The Flotsam Mentor Project documentation will also screen here.
For this project, we matched five established photographers and filmers with up and comers, and then assigned them a subject within the board crafting community.
Opening night only: Monday May 2nd, from 5.30pm
Key board industry figures will be invited to contribute to a ‘talk story’ panel alongside these creative collaborators from the film and photo realm. Talk story panel of both local filmmakers, photographers and area’s finest board craftspeople prior to a photo exhibition and showcase of short film content.
