I love the ocean, photography and swimming.
Those have all been integral parts of my life through water photography. Shooting is my passion. Trying to capture what I’m perceiving in an exact moment is a constant challenge and goal. Whether the waves are tiny or well overhead, getting into the water always seems to light me up.
In 2003, I was handed an SLR camera and was captured after the initial shutter release. My first assignment was to photograph an object that was of great personal significance. I chose a portrait of a Russian doll that my parents had given me. During the development process I made an error, ruining the entire roll of film with the exception of one picture. I received an A for that picture, and I realized I had a knack for photography.
Fast forward nine years, I was a fresh Coast Guard Academy graduate assigned to Coast Guard Cutter RUSH in Hawaii. All my life I had been a competitive swimmer and now I had the opportunity to learn how to surf. While learning I became interested in surf photography which combined my two passions, swimming and shooting.
After finishing my time as a Coast Guard Officer, I transitioned to being a full-time photographer. In and out of the water, I am pursuing my passion by taking photos that have a story behind them. It is my fortune to document places most people don’t get to see, while being surrounded by the best water people on earth. I’m thrilled to share my adventures with the hope that my photos may inspire you to explore the fantastic world that God has created.
I currently reside in Oahu.
