Icons (FREE Outdoor Exhibition + Launch Party)
May 1–15 | The Pink Hotel, Coolangatta
A fence line turned gallery documents a coastline in transition. Icons will wrap the perimeter of the landmark Pink Hotel in a striking series of large-scale black & white photographs to create a raw, visual tribute to the people, places and moments that have shaped the Gold Coast’s coastal culture.
Set against the backdrop of the recently heritage-listed Pink Hotel, sparing it from redevelopment, the exhibition carries a quiet irony. As one landmark is preserved, moments fade. Icons documents a snapshot of what’s been, what remains, and what’s endured to become iconic.
Expect a powerful mix of local legends, iconic surf imagery, and lost landscapes from demolished haunts to reimagined coastlines. Each image connects to deeper stories via QR codes, linking you to the stories behind each frame.
This is an open-air, walk-by exhibition.
Launch Night: Wednesday May 6
Kick things off with rooftop sunset drinks at the Pink Hotel, before heading downstairs to Eddie’s Bar for a film night celebrating the same spirit of storytelling.
Unpolished, nostalgic and unmistakably Gold Coast, Icons is both a tribute and a snapshot of a culture in flux.
