Emy Dossett Photographer

A lover of natural, dreamy light, Emy is an Australian photographer based in Cabarita Beach, originally from Evans Head, Northern NSW. Her work is deeply rooted in the female surf industry, alongside a strong connection to ocean landscapes and natural beauty.

She’s drawn to the interplay of colour, texture, movement, and light, capturing moments that feel both immersive, emotive and quietly expressive.
Emy’s photography journey began in high school, where she learned film photography, developing black-and-white prints in the darkroom. She later studied a Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication) with Honours at the University of Technology, Sydney, before building a 12-year career in broadcast television as a 2D motion designer. Eventually, she felt a strong pull back to photography, leading her to pursue a career as a surf, lifestyle and fine art photographer.

After stepping away from motion design, she followed her dream to live in Mexico, where her photographic journey truly unfolded. Living in Sayulita for six years, she developed her style photographing female longboard surfers, tropical coastlines, vivid sunrises and glowing sunsets. It was here that she refined her craft.

Emy is inspired by those crispy flecks of magic salty light dancing in front of her lens, painting romantic stories of ethereal dreams, surfer goddesses and oceanic landscapes. Her work holds a strong connection to the ocean and those who move within it, whether expansive oceanscapes or elegant surfers in motion. Through her imagery, she captures the unfolding stories within each frame.
