A film night by the ocean, celebrating the places we love and how we protect them.
Flotsam Oceans brings together community, creativity and conservation for a laid-back afternoon of music rolling into an inspiring night of surf cinema under the stars. Set at the festival’s beachside hub at Kirra, this free event invites you to slow down, connect, and dive a little deeper into our relationship with the coast.
Activities include a beach clean-up led by Surfrider Foundation, kids found art workshops, and live music as the sun dips. As darkness falls, settle in for a curated program of ocean-focused surf films.
Headlining the night is Sensing Home (60 mins), presented by Patagonia. Journey with Lauren L Hill and Dave Rastovich as they sail from northern NSW to the Great Barrier Reef, learning from communities dedicated to protecting river and coastal ecosystems along the way. The film is directed by Milo Inglis and features Hawaiian artist and filmmaker Chris Miyashiro, whose latest work A’a will also screen on the night.
Expect thoughtful panel discussions, giveaways, and a shared atmosphere that blends surf culture with environmental awareness all just metres from the shoreline.
Bring your crew, pack a picnic blanket, and settle in for an afternoon and evening of art, music and film grounded in a shared love for the ocean.
